Lucas Digne ruled out for 3 weeks
Barcelona will be without left-back Lucas Digne for three weeks after the club today confirmed that the French international has suffered a thigh injury.
Digne played 76 minutes of France’s 2-3 loss to Colombia on Friday night, returning to Barcelona with a muscular problem. Tests carried out on Wednesday have confirmed that the 24-year-old is suffering from a thigh injury in his left leg.
Lucas Digne has made 10 appearances in La Liga this season (6 starts) under Ernesto Valverde with his last start coming in the 1-1 draw at Las Palmas the beginning of the month.
The former Paris Saint-Germain defender played the full 90 minutes in three of Barcelona’s UEFA Champions League group stage matches, even scoring in the 3-1 win at home to Olympiacos in the group stage back in October.
This injury shouldn’t be a huge blow to Valverde’s team as he has predominately played Jordi Alba as the starting left-back this season. However, the manager may be looking to rotate during the Champions League weeks in which Barcelona have two legs against AS Roma in their quarter-final tie next month.
