Sergio Busquets ruled out for 3 weeks
Barcelona will be without regular first team star Sergio Busquets for up to three weeks as the club today confirmed that the midfielder has suffered a fractured phalanx of the fifth toe of his right foot.
Busquets came off injured after an hour in Barcelona’s 3-0 win over Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League second round second leg on Wednesday night, replaced by André Gomes after making a request to be substituted.
The 29-year-old holding midfielder has made 25 appearances in La Liga (24 starts) so far this season and has played in all eight of Barcelona’s Champions League group stage games to date.
Barcelona are in action at home to Athletic Bilbao this weekend before the international break. It will be touch and go whether Sergio Busquets will be back in time for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie at the beginning of April. The Catalan club are also at Sevilla in La Liga at the very end of March.
