Real Madrid 7-1 Deportivo: Zidane’s side return to winning ways in style
Real Madrid ended their three-game winless streak in La Liga with a 7-1 crushing of Deportivo de La Coruña at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Nacho each scored a brace and Luka Modrić scored the other goal for Zinedine Zidane’s side who hadn’t previously won since 9 December.
The visitors actually took the lead midway through the first half through Adrián López before falling behind 2-1 at half-time.
Gareth Bale scored a goal in each half, the first a superb effort and his second was a header that made it 3-1. Ronaldo’s double came in the final 15 minutes of the game, with his second leading to a cut above his eye.
The Portuguese superstar had only scored four goals in his 14 La Liga appearances this season prior to Sunday’s brace.
Victor for Real Madrid moves them back into the top four but they are still a staggering 19 points behind La Liga leaders Barcelona.
