Barcelona sign Yerry Mina

Barcelona have completed the signing of Colombian centre-back Yerry Mina from Palmeiras, the club have confirmed.

The 23-year-old will join up with the first team for the second half of the season and a further five years as he has signed a contract until 30 June 2023.

Mina arrived at Camp Nou for €11.8 million with the buyout clause in his contract set at €100 million.

The defender stands at a tall 1.95m but is both quick and powerful.  Mina is capable of bringing the ball forward from the back.

Yerry Mina joins from Brazilian giants Palmeiras where he only stayed for 18 months following his transfer from his homeland at Santa Fe.  He has nine caps for the Colombian national team and an impressive three goals to his name already.

During his time at Palmeiras he scored an impressive nine goals in only 49 matches.

This gives manager Ernesto Valverde another option at centre-back, already with Gerard Piqué, Thomas Vermaelen and the soon to be returning Samuel Umtiti.

Javier Mascherano is expected to leave Camp Nou this month to finish his career in the Chinese Super League.
