Marcos Llorente moves across Madrid
Atlético Madrid have signed Marcos Llorente from rivals Real Madrid, the Mattress Makers have announced.
The central midfielder had been at Real Madrid since he was 13 years old, making his debut in August 2014.
However, the 24-year-old only made 22 La Liga appearances for the La Liga giants and spent the 2016-17 at Deportivo Alavés. His career highlight to date is scoring against Al Ain in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup back in December.
Neither club has disclosed details of the transfer fee but the Standard are reporting that Atléti have paid their city rivals €40 million for their new signing.
Marcos Llorente got a couple of run outs for the first team towards the end of this past season as Zinedine Zidane looked towards the future. The holding midfielder likes to get stuck into tackles and looks after the ball when in possession.
It will be interesting to see what this means for Rodri at Atlético Madrid. The 22-year-old is coming off an excellent season at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium. Perhaps the signing of Llorente means Rodri could be off to one of Europe’s elite clubs later this summer.
